Volunteer Agreement and Release from Liability

I am aware that as a volunteer I expose myself to potential hazards which include but are not limited to: kitchen accidents, cuts, burns, back injury from lifting, car accidents, property damage or injury to others in car accidents, falls, muggings, etc. Potential hazards have been explained to me. I am voluntarily participating in this service with the knowledge of the potential hazards involved and hereby agree to accept any and all risks of injury.

 

I will not participate in and report any and all instances of any sort of harassment, exploitation, and or intimidation. I will work to maintain an atmosphere of physical and emotional safety for everyone associated with the organization: (employees, volunteers, clients and visitors).

 

I recognize that, as a volunteer I represent the San Antonio Food Bank to the public. I accept the responsibility for this status and will conduct myself in a professional manner. I will be clean and sober when conducting business as a representative of this organization.

 

I agree to maintain the confidentiality of all volunteers, clients, and donors about whom I have personal identifying information.

 

I agree to honor the commitment length and frequency of service that I make to the organization. I agree to provide as much advance notice as is possible in the event that I will be absent from my volunteer shift. I agree to update my personal information and emergency information as changes occur.

 

I agree that my assignees, heirs, distributes, guardians and other legal representatives will not make claim against, or sue for injury or damages resulting from the negligence or other acts, howsoever caused, by any employee, agent, or volunteer contractor of the organization as a result of my participation as a volunteer. I hereby release the San Antonio Food Bank from all actions, claims, or demands that I, my assignees, heirs, guardians and representatives now have or may hereafter have for injury resulting in my participation as a volunteer.

 

If my volunteer service includes driving an automobile, I acknowledge that I have both a valid driver’s license, and automobile liability insurance policy as required by state law. I agree to maintain my license and insurance in good standing for my entire tenure as a volunteer for the organization. I am knowledgeable and agree to abide bby local and state traffic laws. I agree not to drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or other intoxicating substances.

 

In signing this form, I understand and agree to the terms and conditions related to volunteering my services to the San Antonio Food Bank. I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability and I sign it on my own free will.



Volunteer Code of Conduct

As a Food Bank volunteer, I will:

  • Treat others with respect and dignity without regard to age, gender, racial, ethnic, religious, national, ability identity, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, or other protected status. 
  • Wear closed toe shoes in ALL volunteer areas
  • Wear sensible, modest clothing that is not revealing or offensive.
  • Not consume any Food Bank product or remove it from the premises for personal use. I understand that unauthorized possession will be considered stealing and will lead to being asked to leave. 
  • Not use ear buds (as a safety precaution).
  • Leave valuables, including purses, backpacks, computers, etc. out of sight in my vehicle, OR utilize a food bank locker (if available).  I understand that the Food Bank assumes no responsibility for damage to or loss of personal property.
  • NOT use unauthorized warehouse equipment, including forklifts and electric pallet jacks.


Media Release

By participating in this event – as a client, donor, or volunteer – you give the San Antonio Food Bank the right to use photographs or video/audio recordings taken of you during the event for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to appear in photographs or be recorded, please avoid the area during this time or contact an event administrator.


Court Appointed Program Guidelines


LOGGING YOUR TIME
  • Bring your official log sheet with you every time you come in. This is your time-sheet. If you weren’t given one by the court, we offer a general volunteer proof of service. If lost, we cannot replace. 
  • Court Appointed hours must be performed at the main SA Food Bank location or New Braunfels Food Bank location. Court Appointed hours cannot be performed at our Haven for Hope kitchen.

CONDUCT
  • All volunteers must treat other volunteers and SA Food Bank staff with respect and dignity without regard to race, creed, religion, physical appearance, gender, color, age, national origin, disability or other protected status. 

DRESS CODE
  • Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Please dress appropriately; shorts must be knee length, no tank-tops or spaghetti straps, no offensive messages displayed, etc. If you are not meeting the dress code requirement you will be asked to reschedule.
  • All volunteers are required to check in and check out with volunteer shift lead AND sign in/out at the volunteer lobby. If you do not sign in/out there is no record that you were here.
  • No smoking, drugs or alcohol are allowed anywhere on SA Food Bank property.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed inside the warehouse. 

CELL PHONE USE
  • For safety purposes, cell phone use is NOT permitted once you enter the warehouse or kitchen. This includes headphones or earbuds. Photos and videos are prohibited while you are working- no exceptions.

WHILE YOU ARE WORKING
  • Volunteers must stay in their designated area. Do not wander in other parts of the warehouse. If you are not staying on task or are caught “hanging out” in other parts of the warehouse you will be asked to leave.
  • The SA Food Bank is a professional working environment. While you are here you are representing the SA Food Bank. If any inappropriate or offensive language/behavior is witnessed by a volunteer they will be asked to leave and not return.

SCHEDULING AND CANCELLATIONS
  • Volunteers must be scheduled prior to working a shift. Be sure to sign up ahead of time to secure your slot. 
  • Please be on time. You must notify us at least an hour prior to your shift if you are going to be late. If you arrive 20min past your shift start time you will be asked to reschedule. 
  • If you must cancel or reschedule please notify us 24hrs prior. Email: volunteer@safoodbank.org Phone: (210)-431-8334.  If more than two “No call, No shows” occur, you will be dropped from the program.

GUIDELINES DISCLAIMER

I understand that any violation of these guidelines will jeopardize my participation in the SA Food Bank Court Appointed Program and can be asked to leave at any time.



LIABILITY AGREEMENT


As a volunteer worker on the premises of the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) and assisting the SAFB sort its food products or perform other volunteer services, I understand that I am not eligible for benefits under workers compensation insurance in the event of bodily injury to myself. I understand that as a SAFB volunteer I will not be paid or compensated for my services. I have entered the premises of the SAFB of my own free will. I will assume responsibility and will hold harmless the SAFB for any injury that I might sustain while on said premises. It is also my understanding that the SAFB agrees to hold me harmless for any accidental bodily injury or property damage done by me while on said premises. The SAFB has my permission to use my picture working for the SAFB for any SAFB promotions. By signing in below, I understand that the information is voluntarily supplied and may be used and disclosed for SAFB purposes.
